[AgMIP] PhD vacancy at PIK Potsdam on Forest / Resource Economics

Dear AgMIP community,

The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) is looking for a 
talented and motivated candidate for a PhD in Forest / Resource 
Economics The PhD student will work on the implementation and evaluation 
of the forestry sector in the existing global land use model MAgPIE. The 
candidate will contribute to the linking of the MAgPIE model with the 
economy-energy-climate model REMIND to assess climate change impacts and
damages on the forestry sector. Moreover, the potential contribution of 
the forestry sector to achieving ambitious climate policy targets in an 
integrated assessment modeling framework will be a research focus.

Candidates should have a background in Economics, especially Forest 
Economics or Resource Economics, Environmental Sciences, Software 
Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related field with a strong 
interest in interdisciplinary research. Good programming skills are a 
requirement. Experience with R and economic modeling (preferably with 
GAMS) is an advantage.
