The Department of Agri-food Production and Environmental Sciences -
University of Florence (DiSPAA-UNIFI) is recruiting a PhD student for crop
modelling studies on designing wheat ideotypes for a changing climate.

The PhD position is as part of the research activity the DiSPAA-UNIFI is
carrying out in the MACSUR and AgMIP projects to study adaptation strategies
to cope with climate change. The core of the PhD activity is on crop
modelling and the successful candidate will work with wheat crop simulation
model within a research group coordinated by Prof. Marco Bindi. More
specifically, the PhD student will have to carry out research activities
dealing with crop modelling, programming and data analysis.

Applications will have to be submitted in July (Opening and closing dates
for applications and other info will be available at the beginning of July
with the publication of the Doctoral Regulation). The applicants will be
selected by oral examination including the evaluation of CV and presented
research project. CV has to be presented in European format (Europass). For
applicants who are not resident in Italy, it will be possible to take the
oral examination in English by Skype, if required in the online application.

The Research project has to be prepared in Italian or English in no more
than 12000 characters including spacing, and structured in introduction,
state of the art, objectives, materials and methods, expected results for
one of the priorities of interest that have been selected (in this case
"Designing wheat ideotypes for a changing climate")

The positions are funded based on fixed term contracts for 36 months
starting around the beginning of November 2015.

Payment will be based on the Italian Salary for PhD students (net annual
salary of around 13500 Euro)
