Hello Everyone,

Please see below for an advertisement looking for an open postdoctoral research position at Washington State University. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Jenny

Post-Doctoral Research Position studying Food-Energy-Water nexus
The Columbia River Basin contains one of the most highly-managed large river systems in the U.S. that produces over 40% of the hydroelectric power in the United States, transports 50 million tons of cargo, irrigates over 5 million acres of farmland and is the natural home of many Pacific salmon species central to the cultural identity of the Northwest United States. Coordinated management of physical and non-physical storage systems may increases the effective storage and enhance capacity to adapt to regional growth and climate disturbances. As part of a multidisciplinary project the post-doctoral scholar will contribute to the development, modeling, and testing of innovations at the nexus of coupled food energy and water systems. The scholar will integrate with ongoing development of modeling tools both unique to the Columbia Basin and more generally applicable to developed river basins globally. The coordinated simulation of food energy and water sectors will test innovations in electrical energy storage of renewable power, institutional innovations in water law and international treaties, and agricultural innovations in crop selection, double cropping and irrigation. Preferred applicants will have demonstrated skills or experience working with large datasets and coding or web-development experience.

Candidates should submit (via e-mail) a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and names and addresses of three people who may be contacted for letters of recommendation to Drs. Jennifer Adam and Dustin McLarty (see email addresses above). Review of applications will begin on July 8 and continue until the position is filled. The position is contingent upon funding decisions.
