This is a pre-announcement for an exciting USDA post-doc opportunity that w=

Interdisciplinary Position:  Research Soil Scientist (470)/Physical Scienti=
st (1320) /Ecologist (408)/Agronomist (471); GS-11/12; Salary Range:  $58,5=
62.00 - $91,255.00 PA

The incumbent will serve as a Research Associate with the Range Management =
Unit, Jornada Experimental Range located in Las Cruces, New Mexico. - This =
is a full-time, temporary appointment Not-To-Exceed 2 years, in the Excepte=
d Service.  -   Duties: The incumbent will contribute to the development of=
 a global Land Potential Knowledge System (LandPKS), which is designed to p=
rovide land managers with a suite of mobile apps connected to Cloud-based g=
lobal databases and models allowing them to access and share global knowled=
ge and information relevant to their specific conditions and management obj=
ectives.  Specific responsibilities include development and refinement of a=
n ensemble modeling system to predict potential production and resilience b=
ased on mobile phone inputs and global databases, and serving as a member o=
f the leadership team of this rapidly growing global partnership.  Qualific=
ation Requirements: Ph.D. in Soil Science or Agronomy or a closely related =
discipline of science; or Physical Science or Biological Science.  Proficie=
ncy with a variety of predictive agronomic models, statistical analyses and=
 GIS are highly desirable as well as demonstrated effective writing skills,=
 ability to work as a collaborative team member. *Applicants must meet basi=
c Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirement=
s of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsi=
